What to do with second-hand items?
And what should you do, for example, with second-hand products? If you specialize in brands — I’m not talking about manufacturing or selling counterfeit or large batches of fake brands, but specifically about reselling genuine branded items. That is, for example, Prada, Louis Vuitton, it doesn’t matter — some genuine luxury brands like Gucci, which you managed to buy in a store new (one or two pieces), or used, but with a certificate of authenticity, or you are sure that it is an original brand.
Neither Etsy nor eBay are the main marketplaces for selling this type of goods. More precisely, eBay — is partly so, but there are also alternative, very large and popular platforms where similar items can be listed.

There are two such marketplaces: Poshmark and Grailed. For women’s clothing, I would recommend Poshmark, and for men’s — Grailed. In today’s article, I will show you both.

Let’s start with the first — Poshmark. To start shopping on Poshmark, you need to register. By the way, I don’t really like this. Because often Poshmark appears directly in search results, and registration is not required for that — you could just log in and buy a piece. But if you simply open Poshmark.com, it won’t allow you to search without registering. Honestly, I don’t quite understand this tactic.
During registration, an option appears where you can choose your favorite brands — to receive promotional offers specifically for these brands later. If none of the suggested brands suit you, then a list of additional brands appears — it includes almost all brands you can imagine. Or, probably, all that have ever been listed on this site.
After that, the site shows people from your community — other users who like the same brands. Various items are also offered. Overall, after this registration, you can already search listings.

After registering — although there are products for men, children, home, and even electronics — Poshmark is primarily known for selling women’s clothing.

Let’s see how listing creation works. We can add photos and videos — up to 16 photos and one video, as opposed to 10. Next, a title is mandatory, obviously, here we write our brand, size, color — well, everything as usual. Description, what condition it’s in, and all the other details. I highly recommend that if there are any defects — just like on eBay — you must show them.
Next, we choose the category: men, women, children, electronics, and so on. Subcategory — for example, let’s choose shoes. And select the subcategory there. Single item or multiple such items, we choose the size for footwear immediately. Is there a tags attached — meaning whether the item is new or not? New with tags — completely new with or without tags.
Next, we write, besides that, the brand, because very often people search specifically by brands. Then we add up to two colors. Then a few tags — not like on Etsy, just three search tags. Original price — well, the original price — is your price, listing price, and the original price is the price that was initially set for this item. And again, you send the goods to our fulfillment center for pennies — you almost pay no fee because it’s still an unsold item.
Grailed Commission
Let’s move directly to the commission on Grailed to simply compare these two marketplaces. The commission is very straightforward — 9%, okay. And it doesn’t matter — whether it’s domestic transactions within America or international, it is included everywhere. And if you’re using Stripe, then on domestic sales it’s 3.49% plus 49 cents, and on international sales 4.99% plus 99 cents.
Once again — you can open your account, and many people trade on Grailed, opening American companies. So, this is a very popular marketplace, as you can see, because the commission fee is quite low here.

I think it is more popular, of course, among men, but there are also items for women being sold here. What I like most about Grailed is that you can just do… well, an automatic market analysis. Shoes, accessories, tailoring — they also do that, which means they sew or make adjustments for the correct individual size. And what I really like is that you can only see the items that have been sold. That is, those that are listed and sold. This way, you can see which brands sell better, right in your size.
For example, or you can remove the sizes and see which sizes are selling better overall. Do you understand? Look at brands, see what details, shapes.
