If you sell on Etsy, you surely have your ambitions: you want to expand, increase your income, and of course, see sales every day. That’s exactly what we’ll talk about. In this article, I have gathered four steps that can really help you get orders on Etsy daily and avoid mistakes.

Hello everyone. My name is Victoria Zhidok. I represent Western Bid in Chernihiv and concurrently develop my small business on Etsy. We help sellers enter the international market, accept payments from their websites, deliver goods to any country, and use our pre-center and fulfillment center services in the USA.

Step #1: A large number of listings in one niche

The first and extremely important step is to ensure that there are enough listings in a specific niche in your shop. With each year, jumping in organic search results becomes more difficult because the competition is increasing. Therefore, presence in the niche plays a key role.

How many listings are needed?

A logical question may arise: “What is a large quantity?” There is no definitive answer — it all depends on the product and the level of competition in your specific niche.

When we launched a new product line about three years ago, I only had 19 products in one niche. And that was enough to receive approximately 600 orders per month — back then, the competition was moderate. But as other sellers began to copy ideas and create their own variations, we had to expand the collection. Now, there are over 60 products in this niche. The more competitive the niche, the more listings are needed just to get noticed by buyers.

Traffic dependency

The number of listings also heavily depends on where you get your traffic from. If you rely solely on Etsy’s internal traffic, it is advisable to have 100+ listings. More listings — more keywords and options through which you can be found.‍

But if you actively grow social networks, Pinterest, or YouTube, then even 50 quality listings are enough for daily sales. It’s always easier to influence your own audience.

Listings vs products

I often hear: “I don’t have the opportunity to create that many products.” And here, it’s important to understand: it’s not about the number of products, but about the number of listings. Etsy allows creating multiple listings for the same product. That is, one product can have ten different listings — as long as the main photos and keywords differ.

‍When I first started, I had only one shelf in different colors. One product — one listing. And at some point, it dawned on me: this same product can be promoted for different audiences simply by changing its presentation. I took additional photos — and they appeared: a kitchen shelf, a shelf for a child’s room, a bookshelf, a flower shelf. Then I added variations in colors and sizes — and from one product, I ended up with 12 listings. This significantly increased visibility in search.

Step #2: Search Engine Optimization

The second step directly follows from the first. No matter how many listings you create, without proper SEO optimization, they won’t work effectively. Choose real keywords — ones that buyers use. Form a title from them that explains the product and also includes search queries. In this material’s description, I will leave a link to a video where I share my SEO “tips” for Etsy.‍

Etsy Ads for new listings

Once the listing is optimized, it’s worth taking care of traffic. If organic traffic isn’t moving — Etsy Ads become a great assistant. I recommend launching ads for all new listings (of course, within your budget). This speeds up indexing and brings additional traffic, which often turns into your first sales.

Step #3: Increasing sales on existing traffic

The third step is increasing sales even on the traffic you already have. Yes, it’s possible. The goal is to improve conversion. That is, to get more orders with the same number of visitors. This can be achieved through various marketing techniques that increase the average check and overall conversion rate.‍

Cross-selling

Cross-selling works very well — offering complementary products to the main item. This is a versatile tool. For example, one of our clients sells wooden martial arts training swords. They offer wall mounts for them. A simple thing, but it wonderfully boosts conversion‍.

Discounts and promotions

Discounts also motivate customers effectively. Classic options include:

  • cheaper when bought in bulk
  • discount on the second item
  • discount for a certain order amount

‍All of this can be easily configured in the discounts and promotions section.‍

Bundling

Another great tool is bundling. This is when you offer a set at a discounted price: for example, a necklace + earrings, bracelet + ring, and so on. This always works better than selling each item separately.

Step #4: Encouragement to repurchase

Fourth step — returning old customers. This is much cheaper than finding new ones. To make a person want to buy from you again, you need to ensure a high level of service. If a buyer is satisfied once, they often return. And an automated email campaign can help remind them of your presence.

Conclusion

How does the number of listings in a single niche affect whether orders appear daily?

Very straightforward: the more quality listings within a particular theme, the more often the product appears in search results and the more stable the sales become. Even one product can generate dozens of listings if you change the presentation, keywords, and photos — and this is how a store gains broader reach without increasing the number of products.

Why does optimizing descriptions and titles become critical as competition on Etsy grows?

Because without proper keywords, even the most beautiful product remains invisible. Well-crafted titles, tags, SEO-optimized text, and support from Etsy Ads help new listings get indexed faster and appear to buyers exactly when they are searching for something similar.

How to increase the number of orders even if the store’s traffic hardly changes?

The focus shifts from “getting more visitors” to “getting more buyers.” Cross-selling, bundles, thoughtful discounts, and re-engaging old customers through service and email — all of these boost conversion. As a result, the same visitors buy more often, and sales become daily.
