Volumetric weight is calculated using the formula:
length (cm) × width (cm) × height (cm) ÷ 5000.
The shipping cost is based on the greater of the two values — actual or volumetric weight.
Shipping to the USA
FedEx shipments to the USA via Western Bid are processed on DDP terms — customs charges are paid by the sender.
The following may be added to the shipping cost:
- FedEx brokerage fee — depends on the selected service;
- duty based on the product’s HS code — the rate depends on the product category and country of origin.
For most FedEx services, the brokerage fee is $2.90; for FedEx Priority Ukraine it is $4.40.
The exact duty amount is calculated from the product’s HS code when the shipment is created.
Shipping to the EU and the United Kingdom
For delivery to EU countries, Western Bid offers FedEx Priority Ukraine and FedEx Economy Ukraine. For the United Kingdom, you can also use FedEx Regional Economy and other services available for this destination.
Shipping to the EU
For shipments valued up to €150 where VAT was paid at the time of sale, you must enter the IOSS number when creating the shipment.
In this case, FedEx Priority Ukraine and FedEx Economy Ukraine shipments are processed on DDP terms, and an additional brokerage fee of $3.50 per HS code applies.
If:
- there is no IOSS number;
- or the shipment value is €150 or more,
customs charges are paid by the recipient. They may include:
- €3 per HS code;
- a brokerage fee of 2.5% of the assessed charges, minimum €15;
- VAT;
- duty according to the product’s HS code;
- an additional fee of €2.40.
Shipping to the United Kingdom
For the United Kingdom, FedEx Regional Economy and FedEx Economy Ukraine are among the available services. Shipments to the United Kingdom do not go through customs clearance in Poland, so the EU clearance brokerage fee does not apply.

Shipping documents
The list of documents depends on the selected FedEx service and the destination country.
- FedEx label — printed after the shipment is created and attached to the parcel.
- Customs documents for most services are transmitted to FedEx electronically, so you do not need to put them inside the parcel.
- For FedEx Priority Ukraine and FedEx Economy Ukraine, you must upload the first page of the sender’s passport when creating the shipment.
- If VAT for a shipment to the EU was already paid at the time of sale, you must enter the IOSS number.
- Whether you can add a receipt or an invoice depends on the selected service. For FedEx International Priority, FedEx International Connect Plus and FedEx International Economy, invoice upload is not available. For services that require an invoice, the system will prompt you to add it while creating the shipment.
All documents must match the product details entered when creating the package in your Western Bid personal account.
Additional permits and expert assessments
Some product categories may require additional permits, certificates or expert opinions for export.
- Works of art, paintings and collectible items over 60 years old may require a cultural expertise assessment. Western Bid can arrange it for you.
- For stone and precious metal items, you must obtain a gemological assessment yourself and attach the relevant documents to the shipment.
- Some goods may require other permit documents. For example, certain types of knives need an expert opinion confirming that the item is not a bladed weapon.
The sender obtains the required permits, certificates and expert assessments at their own expense.
What you cannot ship with FedEx
Some goods are prohibited or restricted for international shipping. A shipment with such contents may be delayed, confiscated or returned to the sender at the sender’s expense.
Before creating a package, be sure to check the list of goods prohibited for shipping.
Items made of raw (untreated) wood are not accepted for shipping. For plywood items, when you create a FedEx shipment and select the material plywood, the system automatically generates a pre-filled TSCA form.
Shipping silver and gold items
Silver and gold jewelry can be shipped only via FedEx Priority Ukraine.
Before creating such a shipment, submit a request to Western Bid support in your personal account and include a detailed product description and photos.

Returns and disposal
If a FedEx shipment cannot be delivered to the recipient, depending on the service, return to Ukraine or disposal is available.
- Return to Ukraine is charged at the full cost of return delivery. Customs charges may also apply to some shipments.
- For FedEx Priority Ukraine and FedEx Economy Ukraine, returns are made via Meest to the client’s address in Ukraine.
- Estimated return time — 60–90 days.
- Disposal is charged at the full shipping cost plus a 10% disposal fee.
- If the recipient in the destination country refuses to pay import taxes, duties or other mandatory charges, the unpaid amounts charged by the carrier in connection with the return of the shipment are paid by the sender.

How to create a FedEx shipment in your personal account
You can create a FedEx shipment in your Western Bid personal account under “Create a package” or via the shipping calculator.
1. Select the goods to ship
Select one or more items if they are going to the same buyer at the same address, and click “Continue”.
Check the recipient’s address and phone number. If necessary, you can edit the details before creating the package.
The parcel must be fully packed before you enter its weight and dimensions. Please read the Western Bid parcel packing rules.
2. Enter the parcel weight and dimensions
Enter the actual weight and dimensions of the packed parcel. The system will calculate the available shipping options and their cost.
Select the FedEx service you need.
3. Fill in the customs description
For each item, specify:
- an accurate description in English;
- material;
- quantity and value;
- the appropriate HS code.
The description must clearly identify the product and its purpose. Do not use generic terms such as gift or souvenir.
4. Add the required details and documents
Depending on the service and destination country, the system may ask you to:
- enter the IOSS number;
- upload a required document;
- fill in additional customs clearance details.
5. Enter the sender’s address
Select a saved address or add a new one. The sender’s address must match the details in the supporting documents.
For FedEx Priority Ukraine and FedEx Economy Ukraine, you must upload the first page of the sender’s passport.
6. Check the details and accept the shipping terms
Check the recipient’s address, item descriptions, HS codes, weight, dimensions and the selected FedEx service.
Read the shipping terms and tick all required confirmation boxes. Then click “Create a shipment”.
Once the shipment is created, the label and available accompanying documents will appear in your Western Bid personal account.
If you created a waybill by mistake, you can cancel it yourself until the parcel has been shipped.
How to hand over your parcel to Western Bid
After creating the shipment, attach the FedEx barcode label to the packed parcel.
