It was a remarkable gap, agree?\u200d<\/p><h3>Airbnb and VRBO<\/h3><p>Another good example is Airbnb. Previously, if a person went on vacation, they usually stayed in a hotel. But there was no single central place like VRBO or Airbnb now, where an ordinary person could rent out their apartment or house for a short period, and a place everyone would know about, where everyone could visit, and there would be many users \u2014 such a thing did not exist. They created this liquidity in the market and the ability to list their apartments or find interesting, cool places to visit no matter where you travel in the world, all in one hub. Agree, this was an incredible market gap.\u200d<\/p><h3>Home Dry Cleaning (Uber model)<\/h3><p>Recently, I know of a young guy, probably 22 years old, who became a millionaire. He invented an app that works like Uber but for dry cleaning. Usually, we take our clothes to the dry cleaner ourselves, and then pick them up. He came up with the idea that drivers would go to people, pick up their clothes for dry cleaning, and deliver them to various locations. In the US, Starbucks was practically the first company to introduce a new trend in the mid-80s \u2014 started building small coffee shops and simply changed the culture. People began sitting and drinking coffee at cafes. Previously, they just drank at home or took it to go, or somewhere in a restaurant. Starbucks was almost the first innovative company to come up with a new niche \u2014 cafes for communication, for meetings with people. We often, for example, arrange meetings, and don&#8217;t want to pay for a full business lunch or dinner. It is much more convenient to meet at a cafe. Which cafe? Starbucks.<\/p><h3>Spanx<\/h3><p>Another great example \u2014 a real example of when a woman became a billionaire (not just a millionaire, but a billionaire). It\u2019s Spanx. It\u2019s a woman who invented snug, corrective underwear, but without elastic, without any squeezing or constriction. That is, this underwear is completely invisible under clothing. No one had invented such underwear before her. This woman became a billionaire. Later, it seems, this company was bought for several billion dollars.
